Dental "Prevention" Program
Dr. Lambert Wencelas, D.D.S., is highly
dedicated and strongly believes in prevention rather than the pulling of teeth. He has
been working at the hospital for the past seven months from 8 am 1 pm, three days a
week. As a native of La Vallee, he is planning to stay at least 10 years in the area to
promote educational dental programs. His proposed dental prevention programs would
include:
1. Educational classes throughout
the primary schools in La Vallee
2. Educational classes to train
volunteers in La Vallee who would then go to surrounding villages providing services
3. A weekly, 1-hour radio program,
in La Vallee, regarding dental hygiene
4. Training a dental hygienist as
part of the professional school at the Lycee Philippe Jules
To date, a start-up
dental program has been initiated with one school at a cost of $300 per month. Dr.
Wencelas is looking to expand this program to other schools as quickly as possible. He is
also looking for continuing out-of-country dental education scholarships to assist
promising and talented volunteers who would like to follow in his footsteps on a
professional level.
Dr. Wencelas has
submitted a list of much needed dental supplies and instruments. But to run an efficient
and comprehensive dental clinic, he is in dire need of the following:
1. First-aid kit
2. Orthodontic instruments
3. Mechanical dental chair
4. Dental X-ray machine and film
5. Light curing machine
6. Low-speed handpiece: 40,000 rpm
7. Flask-handler & Little Giant
Flask Press-handler
8. Periosteal elevators
9. Big tooth extractor
10. Small generator
